A Little Progress (Day 40)

Today Levi was doing much better. Around 8 this morning they had his flow down to .190! It stayed there about 45 minutes. Obviously we need it to stay down, but that was exciting to me! His flow was mostly between .300-.400 during the day and his sats were in the 90s but at night he started getting kind of cranky and flow was up to .500 with sats in the 80s. Pray that Levi gets his sats back up into the upper 90s and can keep them up.

He had good breath sounds today and some air on his X-ray. They gave him a new ET tube today so he had two X-rays today, at around 4am and 4pm. The one from the am had a little air and the one from 4pm had even more air. Keep praying for him! We need lots of air in those lungs and we need them to work! Our sweet nurse practitioner took some pictures of Levi for us without his tube when they were changing it out.

So we still need those lungs to open up more and start working. We need the bleeding that he has going on to stop. We need to get his flow down and his gas sweep (these are two of the settings on the ECMO pump). Really, we just need God to heal him and perform a miracle. There is no doubt about it, it has to be all God at this point and just an amazing miracle. We talked to Levi a lot today and sang and read to him. I love him so much. I keep reminding him that we are not giving up and that we need him to keep fighting and stay strong. We just try to encourage him every day and tell him how much we love him. We are praying that he feels really good tomorrow and that his sats go back up tonight and stay up. We are praying that he gets those lungs working and is strong enough to come off ECMO very soon!

  3. I don't know you... but I too have sat by a NICU isolette. I have driven back and forth from the hospital each day. I have stared at the numbers holding my breath from hour to hour. We are a part of the same CDH family. We support one another.

    Praise God for the small steps forward and more air in the lungs. I pray that each hour today it continues to increase and his lungs will expand more fully. Continue to provide strength and comfort to Becca and Michael. Great Physician, please heal Levi. We ask in your name, all these things that need to happen in Levi's body today.

  4. I remember the first flash of my boy's face w/o a tube. It was priceless. How sweet of your nurse to take pics!! Prayers that Levi gets off ECMO asap! Please feel free to look back at our ECMO days. Camden was on ECMO for 21 days. I am praying for your precious baby boy!! And for God to give you all strength during this difficult time. ((hugs))

  6. WOW! I prayed last night as I woke up like 5 times...this made my day! I do not know you but I so appreciate the updates and those precious pictures. I love that little button nose; he is truly perfect! Continuing to pray

  7. Still praying you through the ups and downs, but so grateful that yesterday was a bit more up. Love the free face. Praying for a future filled with lots of free-face days for your sweet Levi. We do believe in miracles and are asking boldly for one for you. My theme verse for Clara is Ephesians 3:20-21 - Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

  8. Thats awesome news about the air in the lungs....thats so important! Praise God! I'll keep praying for those lungs to fill with air and work the way they are suppose to! My nurses also would run to grab the camera when Erin would extubate herself to get a pic for me before they would intubate again...it was quite humerous and I was really touched that they would do that for me. May God carry you & your family during this very difficult time...and I KNOW it is very difficult. He IS your strength...lean on HIM!
